Piano Concerto in C
Single-movement instrumental work for piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and string orchestra inspired by Cambridge, MA’s Mount Auburn Cemetery in early spring. Originally commissioned by the Friends of Mount Auburn as part of Mary’s two-year composer residency at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
The piece was composed in the key of C (sunshine yellow, sky blue, and vibrant green), which was selected to represent the colors of Mount Auburn in early spring (daffodils, sunny skies, newly-grown grass and plants, etc.)
